Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown has the support of both senators who beat him at the ballot box as he seeks to be the U.S. ambassador to New Zealand.
President Donald Trump announced he was nominating Brown for the post on Thursday. Brown was an early backer of Trump.
Brown pulled off an upset victory in 2010 to complete the term of the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
But both Warren and Shaheen congratulated Brown on Twitter and said they would support him for ambassador.
Congratulations @SenScottBrown on your nomination as US Ambassador to New Zealand. You have my support— Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (@SenatorShaheen) April 20, 2017
Congrats @SenScottBrown on your nomination for New Zealand Ambassador! You have my support & I'm sure you'll make the people of MA proud.— Elizabeth Warren (@SenWarren) April 20, 2017
Brown had previously been floated to be Secretary of Veterans Affairs but was passed over by David Shulkin. At that time, Warren told Boston Public Radio that she would support Brown for that job and Brown thanked Warren.
